We are pleased to share that Justin Blitz, serving as trial counsel, achieved a
substantial settlement of $3.2 million just before trial for our client, an ironworker who
sustained severe injuries while working on a low-income housing project in Brooklyn.
The incident occurred when our client, who was assisting a crane operator in moving
rebar to the second floor of the construction site, tripped over loose electrical wires
carelessly strewn across the floor. These wires, which were meant to illuminate the site,
were not properly contained within a conduit, creating a hazardous environment. As our
client looked up to guide the crane operator, he stumbled over the exposed wires and
suffered a serious knee injury.
The injury required three surgeries, including a total knee replacement, ultimately
rendering our client unable to continue his career as an ironworker. He pursued legal
action against the site owner, general contractor, and the subcontractor responsible for
the negligent placement of the wires.
After nearly a decade of rigorous litigation, we successfully negotiated a $3.2 million
settlement just before the trial was set to begin. This resolution provides our client with
much-needed financial support and a measure of justice for his suffering.
